After graduating from Stanford University with a Masters in Management Science in 2011, Scott started working as a product marketer in startups and enterprises, which included a successful exit to Nest/Google.
Meanwhile, after graduating from the University of Rochester in 2009 with BAs in English and Film and Media Studies, Amy forged a career in the nonprofit sector. There she developed a wide array of content, from educational curricula to video scripts to outreach campaigns. Name an audience and she’s written content to reach and engage them.
In between their respective roles, they started a few ventures of their own: a video marketing company and an ecommerce company selling quirky fashion socks – the latter is where Scott and Amy teamed up for the first time! While Scott and Amy have moved on, both businesses are still thriving.
We started Hewn Marketing in 2017 to bring Scott’s product marketing and Amy’s writing and communications experience to SaaS and IoT companies looking to level up their positioning and content development.
